I address the idea of violence and morality in my artworks. My paintings, mainly done with oil on canvas, watercolor on paper, cow blood on paper, human blood on paper, render the slaughterhouses, butcher’s stalls, and the Vietnamese landscapes. In Vietnam, people consume meat heavily. I thought that the habit of meat eaters could be formed since their childhood and such habit is perpetuated when parents start to teach their children to eat meat. I have been examining a local slaughterhouse for three years and have become acquainted with the processes of slaughtering and processing animals. Such experiences have made me realize that the act of eating meat could suggest the violent nature of humans.
